Gran Canarian craft beers from Jaira

Writer: JohnGJohnG

As with most of Spain, there's oceans of lager available, all of it pale and fizzy, with a hint of flavour.

Craft beers haven't caught on as rapidly as elsewhere in europe so I was cheered to find Jaira's offerings at vaious outlets. I tried a couple:

American Tuno

This ale is named after the local variety of sweet potato and pours out a vivid pinky red. It tastes as strange as it looks. It's supposed to be an "American pale ale" but I found it to be hopelessly muddled with an excess sweetness.

Seaclouds

This is a pale/golden ale, playing up the source of its water - the pure rain falling from clouds massing over the Atlantic.

It was light, yet interesting with hints of citrus and baked bread - very refreshing.
