A great afternoon at Bond Brews

There's a lovely brewery that creates "traditional" British ales in darkest Berkshire. If you go for a tour and a tasting, you'll find a stack of polypins arrayed on a table, with instructions to help yourself.

Their signature brew (Best of British) is a deeply satisfying bitter with all the malty joy that should be expected in a quintessential beer of this distinctly (English) type. The brewery was set up by Dean Bond, once an amateur brewer and now the master of his own destiny. One of his tours is adelightful experience, with a full explanation of the process together with enough anecdotes to put anyone off the thought of taking up professional brewing lightly - it's not for the faint hearted unless you have an eye for detail.

Other beers include the delightfully refreshing Goldi-hops and the mellow almost chewy goodness of his railway porter. The first sip of Bengal Tiger made me crave a plate of indian food which would be a delightful pairing!

Here's a link to the website for further information - go and give them a visit or support them in one of the pubs that are canny enough to stock their product.

This is full-on British brewing - there's no quirky hit or miss weird ingredents like pomegranate, coffee or chicken soup, it's all about brewing delicous tasty beer they way is used to be and should be again.
